Hill familiarisation on Beinn Dearg was the order of the day today. The team split into three groups to traverse the ridge, practising safe movement on steep ground and navigation skills.

We went to the slabs above Wester Alligin today to run through abseil and lowering techniques. The weather held off and the views were amazing!

Hill familiarisation around the north side of Liathach was today’s training. One part of the team ascended a gully from Coireag Dubh Mor whilst the other part of the team ascended the north ridge of Spidean a’Choire Leith. The day gave a good opportunity to practise a range of winter mountaineering skills.
